Rail-Volution 2010 Hollywood Town Center Posted July 15, 2010 Rail-Volution is an alliance of urban transportation agencies, planners and design professional. They will be holding a charrette on the creation of the new urban plaza in the Hollywood District. The charrette will start at Fleur de Lis Bakery and Cafe on October 18 from 9am to 4pm and will cost $45. Contact Rail-Volution to attend. Hollywood Urban Plaza Design Charrette Posted July 7, 2010 A design charrette for the new urban plaza in the Hollywood District will be held July 22, 7 to 9 pm at the Hollywood Senior Center. Our own John Perkins will be a facilitator for the charrette. If you are not familiar with a design charrette, it is when designers partner with the public to exchange design, program and functional ideas. The public is invited (including kids) to participate in the design of this new urban space. Portland's Roadside Architecture at Kiwanis Club of Portland Posted June 11, 2010 John Perkins will be giving his Roadside Architecture presentation at the Kiwanis Club of Portland on Wednesday, June 23rd at noon in the Benson Hotel. Invisible Additions: Increasing Space, Minimizing Impacts Posted April 29, 2010 John will be giving a presentation with contractor Eric Eaton of Eaton Construction about residential invisible additions at the Architectural Heritage Center on May 1. Portland's Roadside Architecture at ACE Academy Posted March 11, 2010 John will be giving two classes to high school students about Portland’s Roadside Architecture at the ACE Academy (Architecture, Construction, Engineering).The school serves to provide high school students a focus on the building industry for 5 east county high schools. I will be giving the classes April 1 and 2. John will give a class about Portland's Roadside Architecture Saturday, February 27th 11am to noon at the Whole Foods Market on Fremont. Please contact MindGlo to register for the class.
